Sikkim NIT permanent campus in Rabongla

GANGTOK: While the National Institute of Technology in Sikkim has been running from a temporary campus during the last eight years, the state government has finalized to have the permanent campus at Rabongla.

Sikkim Power minister DD Bhutia said it has been decided that the permanent campus of NIT Sikkim will now be established at Rabongla in South Sikkim.

Bhutia, a senior member of the Sikkim cabinet, said the decision to set up the permanent campus of NIT Sikkim at Rabongla has been taken primarily because of the place is well connected by road and has all infrastructure facilities to make institute to grow.

The Power Minister claimed the state government is constructing double lane road to Rabongla and is also working on uninterrupted power supply for the smooth functioning of NIT Sikkim. The state government has allocated 150 acres of land for the permanent NIT Sikkim campus at Rabongla, Bhutia said.
